Freezin’ for a Reason Polar Plunge431 viewsIt takes a certain type of person to jump into the cold ocean on New Year’s morning. Behold, the locals who fit that description as they enjoy a frosty January 1st at Mattapoisett Town Beach for the annual Freezin’ for a Reason Polar Plunge! Hundreds lined the beach to take the plunge, with bundled spectators watching from the sidelines and cheering as the plungers charged ahead screaming and shrieking with exhilaration. It’s the holiday season in Rochester now that the tree is lit followed by the arrival of jolly old Saint Nick via fire engine on December 4 to usher in the holiday season. The Rochester Memorial School band and chorus treated revelers to a festive performance, while Christmas poster winner Tessa Winslow had the honor of flipping the switch to light the holiday tree. Marion Natural History Museum431 viewsOn Wednesday, the Marion Natural History Museum's after school group had a great time constructing their own rockets. We added fins, nose cones, parachutes to the main body of the rockets, and then added protective wadding to prevent the rocket from exploding. We then headed outside to launch our creations. Every one of the rockets had a successful launch, thanks to the help and expertise of our many volunteers.
