Rochester Country Fair 433 viewsThe Rochester Country Fair rolled into town on Thursday, August 18, filled the air with the sweet smells of Italian sausage and fried fair food, mixed with the smoke of diesel engines, and created that magical scent we all relish until the fair wrapped up on Sunday, August 21. Tractor pulls, animal shows, kids’ games, music, and wrestling (including the match between The Aardvark and Buck Chuck) delighted us while it lasted in the bucolic setting of Rochester, Massachusetts. 15th annual Christmas Day Swim433 viewsWith light breezes and near freezing temperatures, Christmas Day 2016 found a hail and hearty group diving into Mattapoisett Harbor from town beach to benefit Helping Hands and Hooves. The 15th annual Christmas Day Swim took place at 11:00 am with many participants saying it was a family tradition they cherish. One hundred percent of the proceeds benefit the nonprofit organization that provides therapeutic horseback riding lessons to adults and children with disabilities. Photos by Marilou Newell

We located schools, forested lands, hospitals, and airports, as well as many ocean features and historic shipwrecks. Fare Thee Well433 viewsDanni Kleimann led the school staff one last time on Wednesday, June 21, for the annual RMS student send-off. This year, the day marked Kleimann’s last day at RMS as she is retiring after 31 years. Kleimann is best known for directing the Shakespeare plays at RMS and for orchestrating the student send-off every summer. Living History 433 viewsIt looked like July 8, 1776 at Silvershell Beach in Marion this past Saturday. Folks from the Fairhaven Village Militia and Wareham Militia Group in conjunction with Marion Recreation and the Marion Cultural Council took spectators back in time to Colonial Massachusetts during a weekend-long encampment at the beach. Participants in olde-tyme apparel demonstrated what life was like in the 1770s during the Revolutionary War through demonstrations of drilling, cooking, and flintlock musket use. Photos by Jean
