Marion Town House494 viewsAs of June 26, the Marion Town House was showing signs of an overhaul that will continue on the historic building, with the receipt of a $150,000 donation from the Sippican Historical Society. Included in the project is interior work that will promote public safety in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. Poker Run493 viewsMotorcyclists gathered Sunday morning, September 20, in the parking lot of ORR to ride in the third annual Poker Run for Alex Pateakos. Alex is a five-year-old Marion boy who suffers from Spinal Muscular Atrophy. Money raised by the poker run will benefit Alex, and Families of SMA, a group that helps families like the Pateakos’ live their lives as close to normal as possible. Disaster Drill493 viewsFairhaven Fire Department hosted a full-scale exercise to improve emergency response in the region. Mattapoisett, Rochester, Dartmouth, Freetown, Acushnet, and New Bedford all responded to a disaster that simulated an accident between a school bus and an oil truck at Livesey Park in Fairhaven. This year’s race had more runners than ever, despite the wind and cold temperatures.
