Tabor Academy Polar Plunge497 viewsTabor Academy hosted its second annual Polar Plunge on Sunday, January 21 at Silvershell Beach to raise money for the school’s Special Olympics Young Athletes Program. Students from ‘fundraising rival’ Sandwich High also showed up, with scores of students and staff making a dash in and quickly out of the chilly waters. The plunge raised about $8,000. Marion Natural History Museum497 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum's after school group had a great time learning the difference between wild animal tracks, including coyote, raccoon, and bobcat. We also enjoyed practicing how to move like various animals by waddling, walking, bounding, and hopping. Bounding like a fisher cat and hopping like a snow shoe hare were by far the most difficult gaits to practice due to the placement of the rear feet versus the front. Marion Holiday Stroll497 viewsThe Marion village streets were filled with holiday revelers on Sunday, December 9, for the annual Marion Holiday Stroll. Santa’s boat docked at the Marion Wharf where the faces of hundreds of children lit up at his arrival. Santa boarded a horse-drawn carriage and paraded through the streets, passing businesses offering free goodies and dodging the whereabouts of that old Grinch who didn’t seem to mind Christmas coming at all this year.
