Rochester Country Fair 499 viewsThe Rochester Country Fair rolled into town on Thursday, August 18, filled the air with the sweet smells of Italian sausage and fried fair food, mixed with the smoke of diesel engines, and created that magical scent we all relish until the fair wrapped up on Sunday, August 21. Tractor pulls, animal shows, kids’ games, music, and wrestling (including the match between The Aardvark and Buck Chuck) delighted us while it lasted in the bucolic setting of Rochester, Massachusetts. Marion Natural History Museum499 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum wishes to thank Jim Pierson for a wonderful program on collecting rocks and fossils. We learned about geology vs. paleontology equipment and how fossils are made. We also had a chance to make our own Megladon tooth to take home. The museum also wishes to thank Sarah Porter, and parent volunteers Wendy Copps and Marcia Waldron, for their help during the event. Behold, the locals who fit that description as they enjoy a frosty January 1st at Mattapoisett Town Beach for the annual Freezin’ for a Reason Polar Plunge! Hundreds lined the beach to take the plunge, with bundled spectators watching from the sidelines and cheering as the plungers charged ahead screaming and shrieking with exhilaration. Fare Thee Well499 viewsDanni Kleimann led the school staff one last time on Wednesday, June 21, for the annual RMS student send-off. This year, the day marked Kleimann’s last day at RMS as she is retiring after 31 years. Kleimann is best known for directing the Shakespeare plays at RMS and for orchestrating the student send-off every summer. Tabor Academy Polar Plunge499 viewsTabor Academy hosted its second annual Polar Plunge on Sunday, January 21 at Silvershell Beach to raise money for the school’s Special Olympics Young Athletes Program. Students from ‘fundraising rival’ Sandwich High also showed up, with scores of students and staff making a dash in and quickly out of the chilly waters. The plunge raised about $8,000.
