10th Annual Fairhaven Fire Muster503 viewsA team of five of Mattapoisett firefighters represented the department on Sunday, August 25, during the 10th Annual Fairhaven Fire Muster at Livesey Park in Fairhaven. Family Fun Festival 503 viewsFamilies came out in record numbers to enjoy the 4th Annual Fall Free Family Fun Festival sponsored by the Mattapoisett’s Lion Club on October 19 held at Shipyard Park. Bruce Rocha of the club estimated attendance at over 400. Kids and adults alike enjoyed free face painting, bowling with pumpkins, a corn hole toss, snacks, hayrides to Ned’s Point and, yes, free pumpkins to take home. Mattapoisett Woman's Club503 viewsThis past Saturday, the Mattapoisett Woman's Club (MWC) planted daffodil bulbs at several sites in town. The MWC is grateful for the donations from the Lion's Club, Mahoney's, and the Mattapoisett Highway Department for preparing the various places for planting. Princesses Elsa and Anna beguiled the children as well as their parents in an hour-long performance culminating in hugs and a photo session. Friendly conversation lingered over the silent auction tables, which offered original oil paintings, handmade felted purses, memberships to the Wareham YMCA and the Marion Art Center, and plenty of gift certificate to area businesses. Poker Run502 viewsMotorcyclists gathered Sunday morning, September 20, in the parking lot of ORR to ride in the third annual Poker Run for Alex Pateakos. Alex is a five-year-old Marion boy who suffers from Spinal Muscular Atrophy. Money raised by the poker run will benefit Alex, and Families of SMA, a group that helps families like the Pateakos live their lives as close to normal as possible.
