Poker Run395 viewsMotorcyclists gathered Sunday morning, September 20, in the parking lot of ORR to ride in the third annual Poker Run for Alex Pateakos. Alex is a five-year-old Marion boy who suffers from Spinal Muscular Atrophy. Money raised by the poker run will benefit Alex, and Families of SMA, a group that helps families like the Pateakos’ live their lives as close to normal as possible. Annual Tree Sale395 viewsA Decorating Committee from the Sippican Woman’s Club produced over 50 festive trees for the Tree Spree, which started in Handy’s Tavern. The tavern was decked out with themed trees, including a Barbie tree, a Hannukah tree, a Mallard duck tree, and even a tree decorated with recycled items like bottles and plastic bags. The ceremony began with a service at the Veteran’s monument in front of the library, and then a parade assembled and marched to the town wharf and to Cushing Cemetery. The weather was perfect on Saturday as children raced frogs, climbed walls, bounced in castles and much more. Although the weather was less than perfect on Sunday, residents lined the streets with lawn chairs and umbrellas to watch as the Hillbilly themed parade passed. Photos by Felix Perez.
