Family Fun Festival 461 viewsFamilies came out in record numbers to enjoy the 4th Annual Fall Free Family Fun Festival sponsored by the Mattapoisett’s Lion Club on October 19 held at Shipyard Park. Bruce Rocha of the club estimated attendance at over 400. Kids and adults alike enjoyed free face painting, bowling with pumpkins, a corn hole toss, snacks, hayrides to Ned’s Point and, yes, free pumpkins to take home. Fifth Grade Tree Poster Contest461 viewsOld Hammondtown Elementary School student Cabot Van Keuren, 11, put together an idea so well that his painting for the Mattapoisett Fifth Grade Tree Poster Contest was judged to be the best among the 29 entries that can be seen this week at the Mattapoisett Library. Cabot’s poster, following the 2024 theme of “Healthy Trees, Healthy Towns,” will be entered in the annual statewide contest that was won last year by Old Hammondtown student Emma Lowe.
