7th Grade Travel Team 483 viewsThe Old Rochester Bulldogs 7th Grade Travel Team were recently crowned Champions at the Old Rochester Basketball Holiday Tournament hosted by Tabor Academy The boys went 4-0 beating Lakeville twice and Middleboro once with a final win against Bridgewater. Library Henna483 viewsThe Elizabeth Taber Library hosted a henna tattoo program for teens, with each guest receiving their own henna creation by professional henna artist Heather Cault-Nulton. The art of henna dates back thousands of years and has recently grown in popularity. Behold, the locals who fit that description as they enjoy a frosty January 1st at Mattapoisett Town Beach for the annual Freezin’ for a Reason Polar Plunge! Hundreds lined the beach to take the plunge, with bundled spectators watching from the sidelines and cheering as the plungers charged ahead screaming and shrieking with exhilaration. The students learned that 10 bees weigh the same as one M&M, and how bees communicate by dancing. We explored beekeeping equipment and which hive box holds the queen and which holds the honey. Tabor Academy Polar Plunge483 viewsTabor Academy hosted its second annual Polar Plunge on Sunday, January 21 at Silvershell Beach to raise money for the school’s Special Olympics Young Athletes Program. Students from ‘fundraising rival’ Sandwich High also showed up, with scores of students and staff making a dash in and quickly out of the chilly waters. The plunge raised about $8,000.
