Coastal Explorations II 484 viewsMany thanks to Karen Moore Dourdeville for her excellent presentation to the Coastal Explorations II summer program regarding the sea turtles of Buzzards Bay. The students were able to piece together some of the skeleton of a Loggerhead that washed up in Mattapoisett two years ago. They hope to be able to reconstruct it for a display in the Museum when it reopens this fall. Photos courtesy Elizabeth Leidhold

Stars & Stripes Forever Musical Revue484 viewsThe Marion Art Center staged the “Stars & Stripes Forever Musical Revue” last weekend to packed crowds. The rousing show mimicked a USO event, with the audience being entertained as the “troops.” The production featured the “Swanson Sisters from Sheboygan: Dixie, Trixie & Pixie,” (played by Caroline Blaise, Pam Breton, and Denise Bastos) and was hosted by the hilariously funny “Frankie B. Sharpe” (played by Eric Bosworth). The MAC theatre was set up cabaret style, and guests brought their own refreshments.

Marion Natural History Museum484 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum wishes to thank Kitty Degroot for sharing her expertise as a beekeeper with our group. The students learned that 10 bees weigh the same as one M&M, and how bees communicate by dancing. We explored beekeeping equipment and which hive box holds the queen and which holds the honey. The museum also wishes to thank the volunteers who assisted with the program. Photo courtesy Elizabeth Leidhold
