Library Henna517 viewsThe Elizabeth Taber Library hosted a henna tattoo program for teens, with each guest receiving their own henna creation by professional henna artist Heather Cault-Nulton. The art of henna dates back thousands of years and has recently grown in popularity. Marion Veterans Day Observance517 viewsDuring the Marion Veterans Day observance on Friday morning, the townspeople of Marion expressed a heartfelt thank you to the Benjamin D. Cushing VFW Post 2425, which in return gave a moving farewell as it disbanded this year and donated the VFW building to the town. Marion Halloween Parade 2017517 viewsHalloween in the Marion village is one event that shouldn’t be missed! Hundreds upon hundreds of little ghosts, ghouls, and goblins took to the streets to show off their costumes and follow it up with some treats (no tricks) and refreshments at the Marion Music Hall, sponsored by those very kind witches at the Marion Art Center. It’s the holiday season in Rochester now that the tree is lit followed by the arrival of jolly old Saint Nick via fire engine on December 4 to usher in the holiday season. The Rochester Memorial School band and chorus treated revelers to a festive performance, while Christmas poster winner Tessa Winslow had the honor of flipping the switch to light the holiday tree. Tabor Academy Polar Plunge517 viewsTabor Academy hosted its second annual Polar Plunge on Sunday, January 21 at Silvershell Beach to raise money for the school’s Special Olympics Young Athletes Program. Students from ‘fundraising rival’ Sandwich High also showed up, with scores of students and staff making a dash in and quickly out of the chilly waters. The plunge raised about $8,000. Marion Town Party517 viewsChalk up another successful Marion Town Party as several hundred party-goers found good food and fun on the grounds of the Town House on 8/25. Children of all ages enjoyed inflatable games, climbing the rock wall, or jumping around to music. The annual party has its roots deep in the community and may have started as early at 1900. This year’s event featured live entertainment, a scavenger hunt, and lots of good food.
