Heritage Days 2011410 viewsChildren festooned their bicycles and enjoyed a ride around the village as a part of the 2011 Mattapoisett Heritage Days on August 6. Other Saturday activities included guided village tours, an evening concert and a treasure hunt. Mattapoisett bustled with activities on Saturday, but the bonfire was canceled due to wind, and many Heritage Days activities were canceled on Sunday due to heavy rain. Photos by Felix Perez.

Rochester Road Race 410 viewsThe Rochester Road Race saw 348 runners finish on August 13, 2011. Although there were 20 fewer runners from last year, the event still managed to raise 453 pounds of food for Damien's Pantry in Wareham. The men's winner was Julien De Marian of Paris, France, with a time of 15:57, and the women's winner was Jennifer Almeida of Acushnet with a time of 20:19.

ORR Book410 viewsCafe Parlez will be discussing The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie on Monday, November 28, 2011 6:30 pm. This book, which was slated to be taught to Old Rochester Regional eighth graders but later pulled, elicited discussion among junior high parents, some who supported the school's decision to teach the book, some who thought it was too mature for their children.
