The Mattapoisett Land Trust’s annual tradition continues with help from the folks at Brownell Systems and their trusty crane. This year Alan Johnson braved a fear of heights to place the hat on top of Salty the Seahorse’s head just right as MLT’s Jenny Mello directed from below and Brownell’s Tom Checkman operated the crane’s controls. Mattapoisett Tree Committee 526 viewsOn March 9, the Mattapoisett Tree Committee announced the winners of the annual 5th-grade Tree City USA Arbor Day Foundation contest, with this year’s poster theme: “Trees Have Mass Appeal”. The first place prize of a $35 gift certificate went to Amanda Tomasso, whose poster now goes on to the statewide competition. The $25 second place prize went to Sasha Volkema.
