Plymouth Sands Trail Riders 426 viewsOn Sunday, October 28, the Plymouth Sands Trail Riders bike club held a hare scramble at the Mattapoisett landfill. The club, which boasts over 300 members from all around New England, had over 100 riders participate in the event. Riders from teens up to seniors took off for the 40 minute races around the 2.5 mile wooded track. Proceeds from the event will be part of an annual donation the club makes to fund cystic fibrosis research. Photo by Eric Tripoli

3rd Annual Bulldog Dash426 viewsAlmost 200 runners and walkers braved the autumn wind chill to turn out for the third annual ORR Bulldog Dash on Saturday, November 24. The dash was held to raise funds for the purchase of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) for the athletic department as well as to purchase equipment for the Cross Country teams. ORR Track426 viewsOld Rochester Regional High School indoor track and field team took first in most of the events of the meet held at Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School on Monday, December 31. ORR was in competition against several area high schools including GNB and Fairhaven High School. In the races, the ORR girls took first place in the 50 HH, 50 D, 600M, 300M, and 1M. ORR Basketball426 viewsThe ORR Lady Bulldogs Varsity Basketball team dominated Dighton-Rehoboth 50-24 Thursday night in front of a home crowd in the ORR gymnasium. The girls went on a 16-2 run in the first quarter and never gave up their lead. The team improves to 4-1 overall and 3-0 in the South Coast Conference. Crystal Springs Fire426 viewsThe Mattapoisett Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Sunday evening. Hampered by the snow and ice they chased the fire through the walls and roof of the house and were eventually able to gain control. Fireworks Fundraiser426 viewsMaggie Fearons, Katie Nilson, Natalie Nilson and Georgia Toland work to raise money for the Marion Fireworks. Fundraising efforts have already yielded over $38,000 towards the effort. The exact figure needed is not known until the bids are opened and the costs of services such as police and fire details are quantified.
