Family Fun Festival 501 viewsFamilies came out in record numbers to enjoy the 4th Annual Fall Free Family Fun Festival sponsored by the Mattapoisett’s Lion Club on October 19 held at Shipyard Park. Bruce Rocha of the club estimated attendance at over 400. Kids and adults alike enjoyed free face painting, bowling with pumpkins, a corn hole toss, snacks, hayrides to Ned’s Point and, yes, free pumpkins to take home. Rochester Scout501 viewsRochester Lions Club members joined forces again on December 15 with Scout Troop 31 and other community volunteers at the Council on Aging to help make the COA’s Christmas Holiday Dinner program successful. Scouts packed 68 Christmas dinner bags of turkey, fresh vegetables, and all the fixings for delivery. The Rochester Lions Club works hard all year to raise the funds to provide these holiday meals at Thanksgiving and Christmas to area seniors and families in need.

DECA is a program dedicated to preparing young students for the real world. Specifically, it focuses on a wide variety of business subjects, from management to accounting to tourism. There is something for everyone to do in DECA, and there is something for everyone to get out of DECA. There are over 250,000 members nationwide, and a striking 50 students at Old Rochester.

High Winds and Waves501 viewsOn February 7, rain and high winds hit Southeastern Massachusetts, resulting in thousands of electrical outages. The hardest hit in the Tri-Town area was Rochester with more than 500 Eversource customers reporting wires down and service interruptions from mid-afternoon into the night.
