Frozen Princesses430 viewsOn December 21, two princesses visited the Mattapoisett Public Library to read stories and sing songs from the Disney film Frozen. Princesses Elsa and Anna beguiled the children as well as their parents in an hour-long performance culminating in hugs and a photo session. High Winds and Waves430 viewsOn February 7, rain and high winds hit Southeastern Massachusetts, resulting in thousands of electrical outages. The hardest hit in the Tri-Town area was Rochester with more than 500 Eversource customers reporting wires down and service interruptions from mid-afternoon into the night. Gusts of over 70 miles per hour were reported by the National Weather Service. Rochester’s Highway Department was on the job for approximately 24 hours removing trees. Photo by Marilou Newell

Robert Hiller Homecoming430 viewsRobert Hiller III finally returned on March 3 to his Eastover Farms-area home to a grand welcome of family and friends after a bout with the EEE virus that put the Rochester resident in a coma for 19 days and held him in hospital care for seven months. Cruz with a Commonwealth of Massachusetts Certificate of Recognition as a "Hero in our Community" and given three books to add to his donation to the Tri-Town Against Racism Diversity Library for local schools. Robertson, The Wanderer's Keel Award winner in Rochester for 2020.

The Tri-Town received its share of rainy, windy weather after an off-shore gale created nor’easter conditions for SouthCoast Massachusetts on October 18, 2009. Silvershell Beach and Point Road in Marion were hit with high winds and pelting rain. The area still fared better than other sections of the Commonwealth, which received some early snowfall. Zumbathon429 viewsThe ORR high school gymnasium was alive with music and movement on Sunday, April 11, 2010, when dancers took to the floor for a good cause. For a $30 contribution, participants could Zumba for three hours, and the proceeds of the Zumbathon went to Compassionate Care for ALS in Falmouth, a non-profit organization that provides equipment and support to families affected by ALS. The Zumbathon was in honor of Jeffrey Lawrence, a 47-year-old man living with ALS (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis).
