Susan Dexter used a metal detector to find artifacts from the site, and turned up an Indian-head penny and a couple heavily rusted items.

Stan Ellis Retires507 viewsOld Hammondtown School teacher Stan Ellis will be retiring this year after 29 years of teaching in Mattapoisett. Mr. Ellis will be recognized with a Massachusetts Jazz Educators Lifetime Achievement Award at the Massachusetts Music Educators All-State Conference on March 18, and Mr. Ellis will soon be publishing a book entitled Whiskers on My Cat.
