Marion 5K489 viewsApproximately 448 runners participated in the 14th Annual Marion Village 5K on June 26, 2010. The community race raised approximately $6,000 for the Marion Recreational Committee that maintains playground equipment, baseball fields and otherwise enhances the recreational opportunities in Marion. 22-year old Brendan Medeiros of Fall River finished in first place with a time of 16:47. The village of Sweethaven was originally built for the production of the movie Popeye which starred Robin Williams and Shelly Duvall and was released in 1980.
