DECA is a program dedicated to preparing young students for the real world. Specifically, it focuses on a wide variety of business subjects, from management to accounting to tourism. There is something for everyone to do in DECA, and there is something for everyone to get out of DECA. There are over 250,000 members nationwide, and a striking 50 students at Old Rochester.

Wrestling in Rochester513 viewsMembers of the Northeast Championship Wrestling League (NCW) held a series of wrestling matchups in the gymnasium of Rochester’s Memorial School on Saturday, April 14 on the occasion of their tenth anniversary to stage a ‘Reunion’ of NCW to benefit the family of RMS science teacher Tom Kinsky. Library Social513 viewsParticipants in the Mattapoisett summer reading program, “Starship Adventure at Your Library,” enjoyed an ice cream social on August 12 at the Mattapoisett Free Public Library. Over 227 children and their families participated throughout the summer, and approximately 100 participants came to enjoy the ice cream at the social. Poker Run513 viewsMotorcyclists gathered Sunday morning, September 20, in the parking lot of ORR to ride in the third annual Poker Run for Alex Pateakos. Alex is a five-year-old Marion boy who suffers from Spinal Muscular Atrophy. Money raised by the poker run will benefit Alex, and Families of SMA, a group that helps families like the Pateakos’ live their lives as close to normal as possible. Top Cheer513 viewsOn Saturday, November 14, 2009, the Junior PeeWee Cheerleaders aged 9-11 from Old Rochester Youth Football (ORYF) competed in the New England Cheer and Dance Competition in Boston. The girls, coached by Patti McArdle and Cheryl Sweeney, won first place in their group and were also awarded the Grand Champion Trophy for the youth division. The cheerleaders are all from Mattapoisett, Marion or Rochester.
