Bikes, Bikes, Bikes!552 viewsThe Third Annual Pan Mass Challenge Kids Tri-Town Ride attracted several hundred young bicyclist to the ORR campus on Saturday morning, May 16, for a bike rally to help defeat cancer. Proceeds from the event will go to several charities in the state such as the Jimmy Fund and Dana- Farber Cancer Institute to assist in cancer research. Octoberfest552 viewsThe Sippican Tennis Club was the site of the third annual Buzzard’s Bay Habitat for Humanity Octoberfest on September 19 in Marion Village. Music was provided by Felonious Funk, and party-goers enjoyed a wide array of finger foods and fine spirits. Friendly conversation lingered over the silent auction tables, which offered original oil paintings, handmade felted purses, memberships to the Wareham YMCA and the Marion Art Center, and plenty of gift certificate to area businesses. Poker Run552 viewsMotorcyclists gathered Sunday morning, September 20, in the parking lot of ORR to ride in the third annual Poker Run for Alex Pateakos. Alex is a five-year-old Marion boy who suffers from Spinal Muscular Atrophy. Money raised by the poker run will benefit Alex, and Families of SMA, a group that helps families like the Pateakos’ live their lives as close to normal as possible. The first officer on scene reported that there was smoke in the building and that all occupants had safely exited.
