Dollhouse454 viewsNewly formed pop group, Dollhouse, delivered a high-energy hit performance on February 13 in Lawrence, Ma at the Roxy as the opening act for Donnie Klang of MTV's Making The Band. The five-member girl group showcased impressive vocals with solid harmonies and synchronized choreography. Dollhouse members include (left to right): Simone Cardoso, 14, of New Bedford; Kimber-lee Jacobsen, 17, of Westport; Jillian Jensen, 17, of Rochester; Taylor Lawler, 14, of Acushnet; and Jillian Zucco, 16, of Mattapoisett.

Gold Medal454 viewsThe Old Hammondtown School orchestra pulled off its fifth straight gold medal at the Massachusetts Instrumental and Choral Conductors Association competition. As a prize, the orchestra got to play at the Boston Symphony Hall on April 27. This was a bittersweet moment for the orchestra, as it will be the last year that they will enjoy the guidance of their music teachers, Stan Ellis and Jean West, who are both retiring this year. "M/V Mattapoisett" was the call sign of Karl Collyer who passed away in February 2010 after working 40 years at the boatyard. Lilla’s run was the shortest ever for the race, coming in at just under 69 hours. Included in the crew of the winning Lilla were Mattapoisett residents and boat owners Simon and Nancy De Pietro.
