Helene Craver Retires506 viewsMarion Town Hall employees got together for a farewell party last week, in honor of 23-year employee Helene Craver. Ms. Craver’s last scheduled day was August 24. As the administrative assistant to the Board of Selectmen, Ms. Craver is a wealth of Marion information, but she is perhaps best known as the candy source at the Town House. The Wanderer wishes her all the best in her retirement. Photo courtesy of Judy Mooney.

Tonto506 viewsThat’s not the latest economy ‘compact’ car model you saw last Friday afternoon in Mattapoisett. It was ‘Tonto,’ the miniature horse who was visiting town for a ‘wee’ while taking his human out for a ‘small’ stroll along Ned’s Point Road. Photo by Marilou Newell

Rochester turned 340 years old on June 4, and the third grade class from RMS was invited to celebrate with some cake and ice cream at the senior center on Tuesday. Students started the day with a tour around historic Rochester before breaking for lunch and sharing a large birthday cake with seniors. Students also received a free “Rochester 340” t-shirt, courtesy of a grant that funded the students’ birthday gifts. Photos by Jean Perry

Cardboard Boats506 viewsSCOPE Week meant big fun at the beach in Mattapoisett for ORR Junior High seventh-graders who built their own boats and then raced them on June 5 in Mattapoisett. While half the students head off for Survival, the others enjoy a week of equally challenging tasks of the 40-year tradition of SCOPE that gives students a chance to learn while learning about themselves and each other.
