Tripp Mill608 viewsThere’s a new historical plaque situated at the site of the former Tripp Mill. Located on the west branch of the Mattapoisett River off Acushnet Road, Tripp Mill was owned and operated for decades by members of the Tinkham family. A stone spillway remains at the site. The over 20-acre Tinkham Pond fed by the Mattapoisett River along with other contiguous parcels are now part of conservation lands held in part by the Buzzards Bay Coalition and the U.S Fish and Wildlife Department.

Scouts Honored607 viewsMattapoisett Boy Scouts Matthew O’Dowd, Charles Gaudet, and Alex Poulin were all recent inducted into the rank of “Eagle Scout” during an Eagle Scout Court of Honor held recently at the Mattapoisett Congregational Church. Each scout chose community service projects to attain the rank: Matthew coordinated a successful Red Cross blood drive; Charles organized the repair of the Mattapoisett Historical Society’s picket fence; and Alex helped senior citizens with difficult chores.

Magic Memories607 viewsThe Showstoppers, the popular Mattapoisett-based singing troupe, just returned from a trip to Disney World in Orlando, FL, where they performed at the theme park as part of “Disney’s Magic Music Days” on August 5. The group performed at the Galaxy Palace Theater located in Tomorrowland inside Disney’s Magic Kingdom. In addition to the stage performance, they also participated in Disney’s Show Choir Magic — A Performing Arts Workshop in a backstage rehearsal hall in Epcot Center. (Photo by Kelly Zucco).
