Scouts Honored569 viewsMattapoisett Boy Scouts Matthew O’Dowd, Charles Gaudet, and Alex Poulin were all recent inducted into the rank of “Eagle Scout” during an Eagle Scout Court of Honor held recently at the Mattapoisett Congregational Church. Each scout chose community service projects to attain the rank: Matthew coordinated a successful Red Cross blood drive; Charles organized the repair of the Mattapoisett Historical Society’s picket fence; and Alex helped senior citizens with difficult chores.

A Tribute to Heroes569 viewsMattapoisett artist and sculptor Keith Francis designed and built this tribute to the Worcester Six, the firefighters who perished in the tragic Worcester Warehouse fire on December 3, 1999. The massive one-ton sculpture now sits in his North Street backyard in clear view of several neighbors who are either firefighters, retired firefighters or relatives of firefighters.
