Fun with Pollination702 viewsAt the last Cranberry after-school program participants from the Natural History Museum learned about pollinators on the bog. The kids got a chance to see how difficult it is to jump in waders, a job requirement for most bog workers. Many thanks to Dawn Allen of the Cape Cod Cranberry Growers Association for her wonderful programs - and free snacks! The next after-school program will be "Nature Crafts" - a holiday workshop and party at the museum on December 14th at 3:30.

Triathlon702 viewsThe Triathlon kicked off the first of the many Harbor Days events scheduled over the week and into the weekend. Hosted by the Mattapoisett Lions Club every year, the triathlon takes racers .25 miles from the shore of Town Beach and back, 10 miles bicycling through Mattapoisett, and 5K through the village around Nedâs Point Lighthouse. English Copper Beech Tree702 viewsThe English Copper Beech tree in our backyard is over 250 years old, and last year it was looking sad so in the fall my husband hired a tree expert. He suggested that we stop fertilizing our lawn as it might be harming the tree's root system and gave the tree two applications of organic fish food two months apart. This spring, the tree looks better. My husband was mowing the lawn this morning after the rainfall last evening and saw this fish under the tree. Judy Rosbe
