Do-Si-Do in Marion583 viewsOn Sunday, September 14, the first of what is hoped to be an annual series of Marion Square Dances was held inside the Marion Community Center. Although initially slated to take place in the parking lot adjacent to the Marion General Store, the weekend’s rainy weather forced the event indoors. Choral Works583 viewsMembers of the Sippican Choral Society, under the direction of Brian Roderick, recently rehearsed at the Mattapoisett Congregational Church. Rehearsals for the 2009 Spring concert, “Days of Blue and Gray,” are now taking place and new members may join until January 26 and no auditions are required. Celebrating the 4th583 viewsMarion's annual fireworks display attracted several thousand people to the town's Silvershell Beach Park on Friday evening July, 3. The Marion town band entertained the crowd until dusk when the night's big show lit up the sky's above Sippican Harbor. Hurricane of 1938583 viewsMattapoisett resident Tim Smith purchased a collection of original Hurricane of 1938 photographs from an auction recently. The photographs show the devastation of the legendary hurricane in the area of Mattapoisett’s Silver Shell Beach and Angelica Point. Mr. Smith does not believe that the pictures have ever been published, and gave The Wanderer the first chance at publishing the photos. Collection for Our Troops583 viewsA collection of goods for troops in Afghanistan by Mattapoisett resident Alicia Sullivan wrapped up this week. The Wanderer office was just one of many Tri-Town locations accepting self-stable foods, stationery, pens, toiletries, and more. In the first couple weeks of November, an winter jacket/hats/gloves drive for veterans will be taking place at the Mattapoisett Fire Station and CapeCod4Troops will be collecting goods as well.
