Tri-Town Against Racism261 viewsThe Tri-Town Against Racism held their annual Black History Month Creative Expressions Contest on February 7 in the Mattapoisett Library. The event is in its sixth year, with the 2026 event seeing around 30 grade school students from the area submit their artwork. The winners are Noah Santos, Kenna Thompson, Jacoby Santos, Alex Amaral, and honorable mention, Mathew Crain. The exhibition is open throughout Black History Month in the library. The Great Community Picnic 260 viewsMattapoisett Museum and the Mattapoisett Land Trust held The Great Community Picnic on Thursday, August 7 at Munro Preserve on the water. Tickets were sold out and the venue was filled up. Oysters were served alongside beer and whatever food the over 20 different tables decided to bring. Grange members displayed their talents in a variety of categories ranging from vegetable growing, photography, baking, crocheting and floral arrangements. Awards were given to first, second and third-place winners as well as the Judges Awards. Boy Scout Troop 31 assisted Grange members, headed by Chairman Herbert LaFleur and Secretary Susan LaFleur.
