Both Marion (Saturday morning) and Rochester fire departments hosted Nero’s Law training for multiple municipalities over the weekend. Nero was the K-9 dog for the Yarmouth Police Department, and his handler was Sergeant Sean Gannon, the son of Denise and Pat Gannon.

The event, hosted by the Mattapoisett Lions Club, saw over 100 competitors begin from Town Beach, swim 0.25 miles, bike 10 miles north of town and back, and finally run a 5K past Ned’s Point and back around to the beach. Korejwa conducted a Woodland Walk for Mushrooms event at Shoolman Preserve in Rochester. Bolete, russula, honey, ghost pipe, and cauliflower mushrooms were all spotted, along with countless others. Whether it be on the ground, on a waterlogged fallen tree, or up the side of a living host-tree, mushrooms seemed to be all about.
