In the department’s 10th year walking, the participants raised $8,500, the largest amount raised to date as they symbolized the extra weight of living with Multiple Sclerosis. In 2014, Deputy Fire Chief and Highway Surveyor Jeff Eldridge was diagnosed with MS after experiencing the pain of trigeminal neuralgia, a condition he continues to battle while serving the Town

Marion Natural History Museum 191 viewsOn Friday evening, the Marion Natural History Museum hosted Dr. Kathryn Kavanagh of UMass Dartmouth’s biology department. Speaking on Humpback whales, Dr. Kavanagh covered several stages, including giving birth (tail first), and how male humpbacks shield the mother while she’s giving birth by creating a bubble-net screen. Kayak Clinic190 viewsAugust 9 and 10, the Mattapoisett Land Trust in partnership with the Mattapoisett Recreation Department held two kayak clinics for children ages 8 to 12. MLT volunteers provided safety instructions, a major focus of the program. Kayak introductory instruction has been provided by the two organizations for six years.
