Old Rochester Regional Unified Basketball Team196 viewsThe Old Rochester Regional Unified Basketball Team dominated Tri-Town Fire and Police to the delight of a packed ORR gymnasium on November 21. ORR seniors Traeh Carrington, John Butler and Jake Newton were recognized. Police chiefs Jason King (Mattapoisett), Robert Small (Rochester) and Richard Nighelli (Marion) presented $200 each from their respective departments to ORR’s Unified sports program, and nearly $2,700 was raised in ticket, T-shirt and concession sales. During the event, younger attendees enjoyed a series of crafting table activities, including painting, weaving, creating sculptures and much more. Rochester Memorial Day Boat Race196 viewsCompetitors in the Rochester Memorial Day Boat Race were greeted by fog and a high tide, but the sun burned through the cloud cover, and the competitors emerged on the home stretch to the finish line where the Mattapoisett River reaches Route 6. Class of 2024196 viewsOld Rochester Regional High School Class of 2024 Valedictorian Jacob Hadley was introduced by Theodore Cecil, his cousin and chapter president of the National Honor Society. The June 1 commencement featured remarks from Superintendent of Schools Mike Nelson and Principal Mike Devoll and music from the school band. Tinkhamtown Chapel Christmas Choir Sing-Along196 viewsThe 70th annual Tinkhamtown Chapel Christmas Choir Sing-Along. Smiles and merriment abound in this small but cozy and inviting environment. Not a free pew was seen and all smiled. The chapel was built in 1889 and has been maintained by locals who care deeply for its continued standing and operation.
