The sightings included a large “raft” of sleepy Greater Scaup, Canada Geese, American Black Duck, Surf Scoter, Long-tailed Duck, Bufflehead, Common Goldeneye, Hooded Merganser, Red-breasted Merganser, Horned Grebe, Ring-billed Gull, Herring Gull, Common Loon, American Crow, American Robin, House Finch, Song Sparrow and Northern Cardinal. Oil Slick114 viewsMultiple government agencies, including Mattapoisett Fire Rescue and Harbormaster and Marion Harbormaster responded Sunday to the Cleveland Ledge area of Buzzards Bay after a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter spotted an oil slick that U.S. Coast Guard Petty Officer Ryan Noel said the oil slick in Buzzards Bay was approximately a mile long and 150 to 300 feet wide, according to a Facebook post made by the Marion Fire/Emergency Medical Services Department.
