MBY Boat Parade241 viewsMattapoisett Harbormaster Jamie McIntosh and Assistant Harbormaster Robert Clavin rounded up the procession of over 100 boats, while Assistant Harbormaster P J Gerald Beaudoin and Deputies Luke Mello and Sydney Haskell led them around Mattapoisett Harbor during Sunday’s parade that featured the Jaguar tugboat that earlier this year took the Mayflower back to Plymouth. The route took the boats past the Mattapoisett Boatyard as a sign of support in the wake of the August 19 fire that severely injured a worker

Mattapoisett Town Band Director241 viewsOn August 25, Mattapoisett Town Band Director Jim Farmer introduced the new band director, Jayson Newell. Farmer retired after more than 30 years as the Town Band leader. Newell, who has more than 25 years playing and teaching in south-coast bands and in schools, is a teacher at Durfee High School in Fall River. ORR Spirit Week241 viewsThe culmination of Old Rochester Regional High School’s Spirit Week was a pep rally held after October 7 classes in the gymnasium. ORR sophomores performed a Wizard of Oz skit, and the ORR Bulldog joined Dorothy and company. The seniors displayed a "Back in Time/Back to the Future" theme, featuring a cleverly constructed “Delorean,” a colorful aerobics class, lots of action and energetic music with Marty McFly and Doc Brown characters joined by the heroic Bulldog.

Old Rochester Regional Unified Basketball241 viewsThe Old Rochester Regional Unified Basketball team capped off its 2022-23 season with a 72-51 victory over Tri-Town Police officers at the high school. Try as they might, the local officers were unable to contain ORR’s Unified team, made up of special-needs athletes and partners who together played a fall schedule of games against other schools.

Howard Tinkham241 viewsHoward Tinkham’s 100th birthday was celebrated on Sunday with a parade that went from the Florence Eastman Post 280 American Legion in Mattapoisett out to Ned’s Point Lighthouse and back, followed by a party at the hall featuring “God Bless America” and “Happy Birthday” sung by the Showstoppers and refreshments for the many citizens who attended to express their appreciation for all that Tinkham has meant to the town.
