Holiday in the Park 365 viewsMattapoisett's annual Holiday in the Park held on December 9 was a grand success. Buffet-style food tables featured delicious items from local restaurants and shops, from donuts to pizza to Chinese offerings and more. Santa and Mrs. Claus were on hand for little ones to share their wishes for a special gift, while elves, Frosty, and one of Santa's reindeer strolled the park spreading holiday cheer. Marion Natural History Museum365 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum’s Community group had a terrific morning doing some bird watching with Justin Barrett last week. Justin is the president of the Nasketucket Bird Club and longtime member of the museum’s Board of Directors. We saw 28 different species including a yellow rumpled warbler, a pine warbler, an eastern towhee, Downey woodpeckers, northern flickers and many chipping sparrows. Spot365 viewsRochester Memorial School students were treated on Tuesday afternoon to an educational exhibition of the dog-like robot "Spot," a $200,000 machine of which there are approximately 1,500 in the world, according to Kevin Garell, a Rochester resident who works for Waltham-based Boston Dynamics, the manufacturer of the robot.
