Arbor Day229 viewsMattapoisett's Tree Committee held its annual Arbor Day poster contest in partnership with the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation on March 2. Forty-three Old Hammondtown fifth-grade students participated in this year's contest. The winner will have their poster with the theme "It’s time for trees" entered into the state-wide competition. The poster contest is an ongoing effort by the Tree Committee to enlighten children regarding the importance of trees in our landscapes.

Flag Ceremony229 viewsMattapoisett Firefighter Barry Lima along with Explorers from the junior firefighters program raised a flag that previously had flown over the World Trade Center site. The flag has been on a tour of the country since 2021 stopping at Police and Fire Stations where ceremonies are held to remember the fallen firefighters and police officers whose service in the face of unspeakable horror should never be forgotten.

Community Block Party229 viewsIt was a party for all ages when the Rochester Council on Aging hosted a Community Block Party on June 22. Local 4-H clubs brought animals, while Rochester's Boy Scout and Cub Scout troops provided games that included a soft-ax throw and soft archery-challenge games. The adults’ tables were set up by the Rochester Historical Society and Plymouth County District Attorney's office with information on activities and services.
