Center School Art266 viewsChildren of all ages with their parents, guardians and grandparents filled Center School on March 23 to view artwork by Mattapoisett students ranging from Project GROW (preschool) to Grade 6. Greta Anderson is the Art teacher for both Mattapoisett schools and worked with a group of Mattapoisett PTA volunteers to mount and hang over 450 art pieces. "It's great to see so many families here!" she said. Principal Linda Ashley greeted visitors, walking some to their students' work.

Taking first place for best centerpiece was Table 29 with its Barbie theme. The Whale, at Table 1, was runner-up, and the Bird table (27) was third. Mattapoisett’s Fire Department266 viewsMattapoisett’s Fire Department opened its doors to the community on October 12 with a grand party filled with family, friends and pizza. The event was an opportunity for the department to highlight fire prevention while tiny tots donned helmets and rang the bell on an antique fire engine. “It’s a great success,” said Chief Andrew Murray of the event that hosted several hundred people of all ages. New Fire Engine Number 3 was on display having just a day before been added to the fleet.
