We took a close look at tadpoles and salamanders undergoing metamorphosis, spotted turtles fighting with each other, a water snake, silversides and shrimp and much more. Many thanks to Marion Recreation Department for turning on the water at Washburn and to Adam Miller and Zack Ciesielski of the Marion Harbormaster's office for their help collecting plankton samples. Great Picnic236 viewsAttendees at Friday night’s “Great Picnic” on the one-acre Munro preserve overlooking Mattapoisett Harbor enjoyed live music and adorned their tables with creatively competitive centerpieces featuring everything from a palm tree to pickleballs. Mattapoisett Land Trust Vice President Peter Davies told the Wanderer that the Mattapoisett Museum and the MLT have jointly organized the event for five nonconsecutive years. Rockets236 viewsMattapoisett Library hosted Dr. Sandra Pearl of SEED Education on September 21. SEED is a regional, nonprofit organization run by Ph.D. scientists with a passion for empowering teachers with the confidence to instill a love of science in their students. Pearl led a group of eager students through science experiments geared to launching things into the air. There was age-appropriate physics, chemistry and just plain fun. The activity was made possible through a grant from the Mattapoisett Cultural Council.

Halloween Parade236 viewsThe streets of Marion were flooded with Halloween Parade participants and attendees, as members of the Sippican Elementary School Band helped the “witches” of the Marion Art Center lead a procession that began at the Music Hall and went down Front Street, up Main Street past the Elizabeth Taber statue and onto Spring Street, where children were met at Town House by staff members handing out candy for the kids. Old Rochester Regional Unified Basketball236 viewsThe Old Rochester Regional Unified Basketball team capped off its 2022-23 season with a 72-51 victory over Tri-Town Police officers at the high school. Try as they might, the local officers were unable to contain ORR’s Unified team, made up of special-needs athletes and partners who together played a fall schedule of games against other schools.
