Wylie Chair of Maritime Strategy at the Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island, spoke to Marion citizens gathered at Old Landing for Veterans Day observances on November 11. Also speaking were Select Board Chair Norm Hills, Town Administrator Jay McGrail, and the Reverend Eric E. Fialho, rector of St. Gabriel’s Episcopal Church. Supporting with their participation were Marion Cub Scouts and the Sippican Elementary School Band under the direction of Hannah Moore.

Festival of Trees152 viewsThe Festival of Trees opened on November 27 with a reception at the Cushing Community Center on Route 6 in Marion. Sponsored by the Friends of Marion Council on Aging, the event showcased 14 decorated Christmas trees, along with an artisan sale, music, refreshments and a raffle for over 10 gift baskets. Marion Natural History Museum152 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum wishes to thank Justin Barrett for the fun time we had last week learning about the importance of the Great Backyard Bird Count. The students were able to identify the many species including Starling (small flock), Mourning Dove, Juncos (good views), Cardinal, House Finch, House Sparrow, and American Crow. Cross-country Run152 viewsGraham Correia completed his cross-country run from Denver, Colorado, to Massachusetts on Sunday, March 13, at his parents’ home in North Rochester where he was greeted by his parents Gary and Robin and dozens of family members and friends from various times and places in his life. Kai Ouellette from Center School and Harrison White from Rochester Memorial. The whole family went, parents, grandparents, aunts, siblings (Avery & Fiona White and Koa & Fynley Ouellette) and even their almost 95 year old great grand parents made it to the game!
