In this workshop, the participants combined historical accuracy with modern design to produce a captivating display that will hang above our antique butterfly case. The event included musical entertainment by Tri-County musicians, Grades 4 and 5 bands from Sippican Elementary School, Sippican Historical Society carolers and Tabor Academy students, horse-drawn carriage rides, street entertainment, seasonal refreshments courtesy of area merchants, goodie bags from VASE, and crafts for kids. Holiday in the Park 156 viewsMattapoisett's annual Holiday in the Park held on December 9 was a grand success. Buffet-style food tables featured delicious items from local restaurants and shops, from donuts to pizza to Chinese offerings and more. Santa and Mrs. Claus were on hand for little ones to share their wishes for a special gift, while elves, Frosty, and one of Santa's reindeer strolled the park spreading holiday cheer. Marion Natural History Museum156 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum’s afterschool group had a terrific time constructing their own rockets for launching. This program was so popular it had to be offered twice! The kids had a hands-on introduction to the engineering principles of propulsion and lift. Every rocket managed a successful launch hundreds of feet in the air, and most were safely carried down by the parachutes. We investigated salt marshes and mapped osprey nests, found some horseshoe crabs and met some donkeys, chickens and friendly dogs on both our Wednesday and Thursday trips.
