Marion Natural History Museum156 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum wishes to thank Justin Barrett for his excellent program on learning how to bird watch. The kids had a lesson on using binoculars and had a chance to practice outside. Although it was getting dark, we saw a Junco, several sparrows, and took a close up look at squirrel nest. Thank you, Justin. Photo courtesy Elizabeth Leidhold.

Tinkhamtown Chapel Christmas Choir Sing-Along156 viewsThe 70th annual Tinkhamtown Chapel Christmas Choir Sing-Along. Smiles and merriment abound in this small but cozy and inviting environment. Not a free pew was seen and all smiled. The chapel was built in 1889 and has been maintained by locals who care deeply for its continued standing and operation. Though I had never been, I felt embraced, comfortable, and at home. Photos by Sam Bishop.

Polar Plunge156 viewsOn New Years Day, hundreds were arrayed at Mattapoisett Town Beach for this year’s Mattapoisett Polar Plunge. Since 2013, the beach has seen residents and visitors run into the freezing Atlantic to kick off the new year. The event is held by Keep On Plungin’ who, through the selling of baked goods, coffee, and hot chocolate, donate all proceeds of the fridged plunge to local families grappling with the costs of cancer treatment. The Weekend on Cape Cod When Everything Changed156 viewsA positive vibe permeates the movie set of “The Weekend on Cape Cod When Everything Changed,” which is being filmed in Mattapoisett this month. Working long hours, the do-it-all staff improvises daily to provide support and supply nourishment for actors and crew. The story follows an Iranian immigrant who marries her billionaire boss's son to maintain her American visa, but the green-card arrangement encounters unexpected challenge when the bride’s besties bring boyfriends with their cross-cultural baggage.
