Little Free Diverse Library386 viewsIt's been a year since Tri-Town Against Racism’s first Little Free Diverse Library was installed at Ned's Point in Mattapoisett, and on May 12 TTAR members along with supporters gathered again to celebrate, this time the reopening of the little library that in November 2021 had been vandalized, destroying both the structure and the books it held. The Mattapoisett native sailed his 27-foot boat Why Worry on a solo journey that took him as far as Turks and Caicos south of the Bahamas. Marion Art Center 386 viewsOn June 23, the Marion Art Center held its annual Art in Bloom reception. The popular event pairs floral arrangements with paintings in what can to liken to a 3D visual art profusion. This year's art featured the abstract expressions of Pat Warwick, Alyn Carlson and Pat Coomey Thornton. Arts in the Park386 viewsThe Marion Art Center’s annual “Arts in the Park” event was greeted by a gorgeous weekend, as cars lined Marion’s streets and visitors strolled through Bicentennial Park, ducking into the shade of white tents to visit the many artisans and their goods. Marion Natural History Museum386 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum's July Coastal Exploration group had a fun week exploring some of Marion's natural areas. We examined green frog tadpoles and a frog metamorphosis, were invited to explore Ram Island, visited the donkeys and learned about filter feeders, including some of the largest ones like whales. We collected examples of plankton, caught fish and frogs in our nets, investigated tide pools and took trips to Bird and Ram Island.
