Massachusetts Fire Academy 159 viewsThe Massachusetts Fire Academy conducted a 48-hour class on Saturday involving Fire personnel from the region at Magnolia Cranberry located on Sherman Briggs’ bog accessible off Front Street. The class focused on operating the engine (pumper) in both rural areas and areas with fire hydrants. Seven students enrolled from Marion Fire Department were enrolled. According to Marion Fire Chief Brian Jackvony, the class was originally scheduled for completion in 2020 but was postponed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Pumpkin Palooza159 viewsSaturday’s Pumpkin Palooza hosted by the Marion Council of Aging and the Recreation Department at the Cushing Community Center. Families decorated pumpkins, and children enjoyed face painting, a hula-hoop contest, dancing, a visit from Pine Meadow Farm animals and refreshments supported by Tabor Academy volunteers. Pumpkins were later illuminated, giving the pavilion an eerie weekend presence. Sixty-five families preregistered to participate in the event inspired by Marion citizen Dianne Cosman

Marion’s Christmas Stroll 159 viewsThe Town of Marion’s annual Christmas Stroll held on December 11 featured rides with Santa and Mrs. Claus on horse-drawn carriages, live entertainment from the Sippican Elementary School musicians, Christmas songs performed by Tabor Academy students, children’s activities and many refreshments offered along the sidewalks by village merchants. Saint Gabriel’s Episcopal Church159 viewsThe youth group at Saint Gabriel’s Episcopal Church Marion hosted a party after church last Sunday. It was The Souper Bowl of Caring. They decorated for the tailgate party, cooked delicious food to share, nachos, sliders, sloppy Joes and much more.
