Front Street and connecting village roads were partially closed for the event, as families enjoyed refreshments provided by area merchants at their doorsteps and along the roads. Kayak Clinic392 viewsAugust 9 and 10, the Mattapoisett Land Trust in partnership with the Mattapoisett Recreation Department held two kayak clinics for children ages 8 to 12. MLT volunteers provided safety instructions, a major focus of the program. Kayak introductory instruction has been provided by the two organizations for six years. Tool Donation392 viewsTim Moll of Mattapoisett set up a tool and equipment trailer at the Mattapoisett Harbormaster's Office on August 27 to collect donations for the Mattapoisett Boatyard. A friend of boatyard owner David Kaiser and a "fellow boatyard guy," Moll said people have been generous in the wake of the August 19 fire that destroyed the boatyard, including several widows who offered to donate the contents of their husbands’ sheds and garages.

Massachusetts Fire Academy 392 viewsThe Massachusetts Fire Academy conducted a 48-hour class on Saturday involving Fire personnel from the region at Magnolia Cranberry located on Sherman Briggs’ bog accessible off Front Street. The class focused on operating the engine (pumper) in both rural areas and areas with fire hydrants. Seven students enrolled from Marion Fire Department were enrolled. According to Marion Fire Chief Brian Jackvony, the class was originally scheduled for completion in 2020 but was postponed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
