Halloween Parade162 viewsThe streets of Marion were flooded with Halloween Parade participants and attendees, as members of the Sippican Elementary School Band helped the “witches” of the Marion Art Center lead a procession that began at the Music Hall and went down Front Street, up Main Street past the Elizabeth Taber statue and onto Spring Street, where children were met at Town House by staff members handing out candy for the kids. 162 viewsOn view now as an outdoor art installation are two works created by UMass visual art students located at Dunseith, the Mattapoisett Land Trust park property at the corner of Route 6 and North Street. Both works are interactive in that The Bean has moveable parts that give viewers of all ages the opportunity to leave their own impact on tiny sculptures by relocating them across the surface of the sculpture. The Catalyst is bed-like, beckoning viewers to set aside cares and rest for a moment.

Shining Tides Multiuse Pathway162 viewsThe official opening of the Shining Tides multiuse pathway took place on June 12 with approximately 75 people gathered to applaud the 20-year effort. The Massachusetts Department of Transportation hosted the ribbon-cutting event where the elevated bridge span crosses the Mattapoisett River and Eel Pond marshlands. Representative William Straus noted the hard work of both local volunteers and government members, as well as the support and work done by those associated with Secretary of Transportation
