Mattapoisett’s Fire Department254 viewsMattapoisett’s Fire Department opened its doors to the community on October 12 with a grand party filled with family, friends and pizza. The event was an opportunity for the department to highlight fire prevention while tiny tots donned helmets and rang the bell on an antique fire engine. “It’s a great success,” said Chief Andrew Murray of the event that hosted several hundred people of all ages. New Fire Engine Number 3 was on display having just a day before been added to the fleet.

Christmas Day Plunge254 viewsAt 94, Bob Humphrey was the elder statesman participating in the Christmas Day plunge held at Mattapoisett Town Beach, which including 47 swimmers and raised $2,595 in donations for the benefit of Helping Hands & Hooves. Whale Bark Wanderer254 viewsMattapoisett Museum Curator Connor Gaudet and volunteer Bob Clifford unpack the custom model of the Whale Bark Wanderer 1878 recreated by artist George Lowery from scratch and donated to the museum. The model arrived on Tuesday afternoon from Arizona in a crate weighing a total of 181 pounds.
