Marion Natural History Museum1155 viewsDuring Wednesday's “Soil Critters” afterschool program, students had the opportunity to learn about what makes up a healthy soil and how varying numbers of insects populate different types of soil. The soil from the compost pile had the highest number of animals, with 17 pill bugs, 26 worms, two beetles, 34 springtails, two millipedes and one nematode. Survivor Lessons1153 viewsOn March 3, a holocaust survivor visited Meg McKeons History class at Old Rochester Regional High School to share her memories from the war. Ms. Elizabeth Dopazo, an eleven-year-old at the time of the war, she was invited to speak to Ms. McKeons class through an organization called Facing History and Ourselves. These students really are the last generation who will be able to meet a survivor face to face, Ms. McKeon said.
