Rochester Grange Agricultural Fair395 viewsUnlike recent years when greeted by stifling heat or torrential rain, the 2023 Rochester Grange Agricultural Fair was held in gorgeous weather on August 19. Outside the Grange Hall, attendees enjoyed animals large and small with the Plymouth County 4-H Club, while inside blue, red, green and yellow ribbons adorned winning entries from farmers, gardeners and craftsmen of all ages. Marion Natural History Museum395 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum’s afterschool group had a terrific time constructing their own rockets for launching. This program was so popular it had to be offered twice! The kids had a hands-on introduction to the engineering principles of propulsion and lift. Every rocket managed a successful launch hundreds of feet in the air, and most were safely carried down by the parachutes. Town of Marion Memorial Day395 viewsArmy veteran Charles Brown was the keynote speaker as the Town of Marion held its Memorial Day remembrance ceremonies on Monday morning with a procession from the Music Hall up Front Street to Old Landing, where Air Force Technical Sergeant Mandy Givens served as master of ceremonies that included an invocation by the Reverend Eric Osterday, the reading of “The Gettysburg Address” by Old Rochester Regional High School sophomore Amanda Tomasso of Mattapoisett, the reading of “In Flanders Fields”

Rochester Memorial Day395 viewsThe Town of Rochester held a Memorial Day procession on May 26 from Town Hall to Daggett Square, where the Select Board read the names of residents who served in the Civil War and foreign conflicts. The board also ordained Rochester as a Purple Heart Town. Boy Scout Troop 31 and the Rochester Memorial School Band participated.
