Great Picnic258 viewsAttendees at Friday night’s “Great Picnic” on the one-acre Munro preserve overlooking Mattapoisett Harbor enjoyed live music and adorned their tables with creatively competitive centerpieces featuring everything from a palm tree to pickleballs. Mattapoisett Land Trust Vice President Peter Davies told the Wanderer that the Mattapoisett Museum and the MLT have jointly organized the event for five nonconsecutive years. ORR Spirit Week258 viewsThe culmination of Old Rochester Regional High School’s Spirit Week was a pep rally held after October 7 classes in the gymnasium. ORR sophomores performed a Wizard of Oz skit, and the ORR Bulldog joined Dorothy and company. The seniors displayed a "Back in Time/Back to the Future" theme, featuring a cleverly constructed “Delorean,” a colorful aerobics class, lots of action and energetic music with Marty McFly and Doc Brown characters joined by the heroic Bulldog.

Try as they might, the local officers were unable to contain ORR’s Unified team, made up of special-needs athletes and partners who together played a fall schedule of games against other schools.

Scout Camp Fire258 viewsMarion Boy Scouts Troop 32 and Cub Scouts Pack 32 are in need of assistance after a March 8 brush fire destroyed buildings and equipment at Camp Hadley. Marion Fire reported on its Facebook page that the department received a 911 call for a brushfire that got away from an adjacent property owner. Engine No. 1 arrived to discover the fire had quickly spread to both of the outbuildings used by Camp Hadley. Mutual aid followed from Wareham, Mattapoisett and Rochester Fire departments,

Our gracious hosts allowed us to explore the island beaches, streams, saltmarshes, open-water areas and Osprey nests.
