Great Picnic261 viewsAttendees at Friday night’s “Great Picnic” on the one-acre Munro preserve overlooking Mattapoisett Harbor enjoyed live music and adorned their tables with creatively competitive centerpieces featuring everything from a palm tree to pickleballs. Mattapoisett Land Trust Vice President Peter Davies told the Wanderer that the Mattapoisett Museum and the MLT have jointly organized the event for five nonconsecutive years. Betty Parsons261 viewsAt the Marion Art Center on display through October 28 is a retrospective of works done by gallerist and artist Betty Parsons. From as early as the 1930s through to 1980, Parsons received growing acclaim for her ability and wisdom in selecting art done by emerging artists, primarily those expressed via abstract visual interpretations. Parsons was also an artist, described as both a painter and a sculptor for her work in watercolor and acrylic, but also a sculptor for her found items and driftwood creations.

An advent wreath is a circle of greenery, marked by four candles that represent the four Sundays of the season of Advent. An additional candle is lit as each new Sunday is celebrated in Advent.
