Tinkham Lane272 viewsFootprints dot an icy pathway off Tinkham Lane, as the morning sun brightens the frozen tundra in the neighborhood where an EF-1 tornado did most of its damage back on August 8, 2023. Many fallen trees still lay in the woods between the homes, an abiding reminder to residents of their ordeal. Photo by Mick Colageo. January 25, 2024 edition

Marion Natural History Museum272 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum’s afterschool group had a terrific time constructing their own rockets for launching. This program was so popular it had to be offered twice! The kids had a hands-on introduction to the engineering principles of propulsion and lift. Every rocket managed a successful launch hundreds of feet in the air, and most were safely carried down by the parachutes. The Museum wishes to thank volunteers Mike Cronin and his son Jake for the great program. Photos courtesy Elizabeth Leidho

Marion Natural History Museum272 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum’s after school group wishes to thank Michael and Hannah Moore for allowing us to explore their wonderful island. We learned how to recognize different shellfish and crabs, as well as some of the various salt marsh plants. We also had fun visiting with a couple of friendly donkeys during our exploration. Thank you for sharing this experience with our group. Museum open hours are Wednesday and Friday all day as well as some Saturday hours (please call ahead first).
