The popular event pairs floral arrangements with paintings in what can to liken to a 3D visual art profusion. This year's art featured the abstract expressions of Pat Warwick, Alyn Carlson and Pat Coomey Thornton. Marion Museum of Natural History319 viewsThe Marion Museum of Natural History would like to thank Karen Alves Cronin and our volunteer parents for the wonderful program March 15. First, Karen showed us how gravity and a simple bucket suspended on a line and filled with paint can produce beautiful paintings. Marion Natural History Museum319 viewsDespite having to reschedule the trip due to poor weather, October 3 was a perfect day to explore. We learned a little about the history of the structures that were built and destroyed during different winter storms and the Hurricane of 1938 which wiped out everything but the lighthouse. We heard that the lighthouse was built in 1819, and the original lighthouse keeper was William S. Moore.

Marion Fire319 viewsAn attic at 295 Delano Road caught fire on Monday, prompting response from Marion Fire/EMS and mutual aid from Wareham, Mattapoisett and Rochester fire departments. Firefighters cut a hole in the roof and quickly extinguished the fire, preventing further damage. Marion Natural History Museum319 viewsFriday night the Marion Natural History Museum hosted a standing-room-only presentation about the Black Bear population in Massachusetts. According to state fish and wildlife biologists Jason Zimmer and Steven Wright, the population is rapidly expanding into the eastern part of our state. Jason gave us some good tips to keep black bears out of our property, including removing bird feeders, covering and keeping our garbage contained, and how to keep bears out of our livestock. Winter Wonderland 319 viewsOld Colony’s national Honor Society members hosted a holiday event, titled Winter Wonderland on December 15.
